Free HDR and Panorama or Photos Stitching Applications.
Free HDR (High Dynamic Range) photo stacking software and Panorama maker called also photo stitcher and other very specialized photo application like JPEG from RAW extractors are listed below.
So not only free HDR maker or panorama stitching freeware are listed here, but also and surely some applications you have never heard about, and especially some strange things about what they can do with a picture or a photo.
1) HDRtist Free photo in High Dynamic Range Maker.
HDRtist is certainly the most simple HDR program out there, so simple that there is not a lot to speak about.
For Windows and Mac OSX, with HDRtist you just need to drop one or more picture in the software, hit the button "Align Photos" if necessary, move the bottom slide "Strength" at your convenience, when you are happy with the result save your masterpiece and it's done !
2) Hugin Panorama and Photo Stitcher.
Hugin Panorama Photo Stitcher is for Mac OSX and Windows. I didn't really use or test it because i didn't have many pictures to stitch together, i just throw few pictures which have nothing to do together just to see the interface and how it handle the pictures.
Interesting interface, it took a bit of time to load 4 jpg as wide as 5700 pixels each, and it was not as ergonomic as at the first glance suggested it was.
3) Luminance HDR High Dynamic Range Freeware image processor.
Luminance HDR is for Mac OSX and Windows, HDR mean High Dynamic Range, the concept here is to take the same picture with multiple exposures that you blend together to have a High dynamic range. Luminance can also simulate multiple exposure with only one picture and you get a kind of HDR too.
Luminance HDR is very simple to use, and it have also advanced tools to get the perfect HDR of your taste.
It run fast to load and set up, but blending and aligning big pictures (say 5000pixels wide) it take a long time, too long.
In the beginning you will have some surprises (a lot) before you know what an algorithm does compare to another one.
4) IJFR : Instant JPEG From Raw, extract JPEG from any RAW.
IJFR Instant JPEG from RAW for Mac OS X and Windows. This little software don't do a lot, but what it is doing it do it extremely well!
IJFR work with the right click on the mouse when you put your mouse on the top of a RAW file or a full folder RAW, and it extract the JPEG embedded in it (right click on a RAW picture > JPG).
Very useful, if you do not shoot jpeg and want a jpeg immediately for whatever reasons, it's the tool to have !
5) ERawP : Extract JPG Previews from RAW.
The ERawP freeware extract the JPEG preview embedded in the RAW photo, which mean also that this JPEG has taken in count the the setting of the camera.
ERawP is very fast and free. ERawP is for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, you just drop a folder loaded with RAW files, check the checkbox in front of the RAW photo you want the JPEG to be extracted from, select a destination folder and it's done.
6) Pos Panorama Pro a freeware to stitch photos.
The Pos Panorama Pro application is a free panoramic photo editing software for desktop and laptop computer running Microsoft Windows only. Pos panorama pro allows you to create panoramic images from series of photos by overlapping photos.
Pos Panorama Pro will automatically arrange and stitch all photos into a panoramic image. Pos panorama photo stitcher supports both horizontal and vertical panoramas.

Nowadays our smartphones have more computer power than a 10 years old desktop computer. Technology is evolving fast and with it, the language acquiring new words like smartphone or selfie.
We are doing everything with our phone, from a GPS assistant to photograph or record a movie in full 1080p HD, even post processing those images, and i don't even speak about playing 3D games, read some news on internet and so on...
