My actual Cameras and Lenses

Which camera brand take the best pictures?

It's not the camera i am using who take the pictures, it's me !

Having a good camera help, for sure, but that's all, they are only tools, and the most important in photography it's the 20cm behind the viewfinder.

Having said that, Canon, Nikon, Sony, Pentax, whatever ... it's not the brand the most important, nowadays they are all good material if not, all excellent.

When people ask me some advises, i always answer the same way:

  • Put all your budget in the lens, better to have only 1 excellent lens, than 5 average lenses.
  • Unless the law of physics have changed, the light pass always first by the lens before to hit the camera's sensor.
  • The camera is secondary, you can change it every year, but a good lens is for the life and a sensor record only what the lens have projected to it.
  • You will have, by far, a better image quality with an excellent lens mounted on a cheapo camera, than a high end camera with an average quality lens on it, and that it's a fact!

I am married with Canon, yes nobody is perfect, it can change tomorrow, but actually i am very happy with it.
I didn't came to the red side randomly (Canon brand name is red, Nikon is yellow, so when later on, i will use red or yellow you will know which brand i am speaking about).

I went to a Canon shop, look at a body, try the ergonomic and layout, look at their lenses, did the same with Nikon and Pentax, came back to the red side because their ergonomic and layout just fit perfectly to me, i even didn't have to ask to the seller to show me how to navigate between menu and layout functions, it came naturally for me, also the huge choice of very high quality lenses with Canon, took the final decision.
