Sigma lenses are a bit different in the way they print the aperture on it, if they use the fraction "F". For example : F2.8 (there is no “ / “ after the F).

  • C: Contemporary (compactness and cheaper products).
  • S: Sports (high quality zoom lenses).

  • HSM: Hyper-Sonic Motor.
  • ASP: ASPherical element.
  • APO: APOchromatic (low dispersion) element.
  • OS: Optical Stabilizer.
  • RF: Rear Focusing.
  • IF: Inner Focusing.
  • CONV: Teleconverter compatible (APO Teleconverter EX).
  • EX: EXcellence (professional lenses, designation before 2012).
  • DG: for full-frame camera(35mm).

  • ELD: Extraordinary Low Dispersion (has lower dispersion characteristics than SLD).
  • FLD: "F" Low Dispersion glass in the highest level low dispersion glass available with extremely high light transmission, the F might meant to be comparable as the "Fluorite".
  • DN: Mirrorless camera.
